A Word on Sheep's Milk

photo-by-patrick-schneider.jpg

A Global Milk

Sheep have been milked for thousands of years, and evidence suggests that domestication practices far predate those of bovines. They have been milked all over the world, and to this day there are over 100 million sheep raised for dairy worldwide, though only a small fraction of those sheep reside in the United States. We are fortunate enough to be one of a handful of large-scale sheep milk producers, because let us tell you, this is a superfood!

A True Superfood

Sheep milk is extremely nutritious, and it doesn’t take a scientist to see why; compared to cow milk, sheep milk is higher in calcium, potassium, vitamins A, B6, B12, and E. Not to mention it has all 10 essential Amino acids and higher protein level than cow milk. It even has high concentrations of special CLA fats which have been shown to significantly reduce unhealthy fats. And the best part for our lactose-intolerant friends? It’s lower in lactose than cow milk, which allows many people who experience lactose intolerance to consume sheep milk with little to no side effects. It also has 100% A2 Proteins, which you can read more about on our goat page!
